Floyd, a Minnesota resident, was arrested on Monday after he was accused of using a counterfeit $20 note at a local deli. His arrest was recorded by passers-by which shows a white policer officer, Derek Chauvin, restraining Floyd by kneeling on his neck for at least seven minutes despite the 46-year-old gasping for breath and repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe”.

The officer remained in that position even after Floyd became unconscious. His unresponsive body was then taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) called the incident “public lynching without a rope.” This was not an isolated incident, George Floyd joins a list of many African Americans who have died such as Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Nina Pop, and Sean Reed.

#FightAgainstCOVID19

Maharashtra has the highest number of positive coronavirus cases in India. And it is very likely that the number of cases is much higher than what is being declared given that India has only 10 tests per million. Doctors and nurses are in desperate need for surgical masks as there has been a huge shortage of masks to protect them from the coronavirus as they work on the front lines.

#FightAgainstCOVID19

Currently, government hospitals are facing a massive shortage of masks for their health care professionals as well as their patients. These hospitals need 1 lakh masks for the next 10 days. However, this may increase depending on the situation.

Your donations will sponsor 3 ply disposable surgical masks (ISO/CE Certified)

The price of a mask is typically much lower but with the shortage, suppliers have hiked the prices to about Rs 17. If we source it for cheaper, we will convey that to you too. If you know of any ISO/CE certified suppliers, please let us know.

Seeking asylum is a legal right. But migrants at the US Mexico border are witnessing an unprecedented amount of arrests as they flee gang violence and death threats in their home countries – Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras. The US government is detaining migrants and requesting unaffordable bail amounts coercing them to plead guilty. This hurts their chance at applying for asylum and triggers immediate deportation.

63 Million people in India live without clean water. Water borne diseases alone cause more than 1,600 deaths a day - the same as eight 200 person jumbo-jets crashing to the ground each day.
